Clinical Evaluation

The clinical evaluation of the patients before treatment.

The presence of oligodontia is associated with alterations of maxillary and
mandibular growth5, 7, 9 and several dentoalveolar alterations 8, 10, 11.
The missing teeth and the growth pattern influence the soft tissue profile.

The most prominent craniofacial alterations are
· Maxillary hypoplasia
mandibular hypoplasia

and bimaxillary hypoplasia

· Reduced vertical and transversal dimension of alveolar process
· Receding mid-face
· Decreased anterior facial height
· Increased nasal-labial angle
· Deep labiomental sulcus

The most prominent dentoalveolar alterations are
· Occlusal disturbances
1. Deep bite
2. Cross bite

3. Steep inclination of incisors
4. Unusual abrasion
· Disturbances of eruption
1. Alteration of tooth position
2. Impaction
3. Over eruption
· Alterations of tooth morphology
1. Conical shape of existing teeth
2. Decreased size of existing teeth
