The Distractor is fixed with monocortical screws. The length should only be 4 mm in the area of mandibular nerve. The drill bits 0.7 mm is not recommended in the mandible - use at least 0.8 mm.

In the presented case it was necessary to use 1.1 mm drill bit and 1.2 mm screws to avoid the screw being 'turned over' and breaking off.

The function e.g. elevation direction of distractor is controlled. Undercuts related to vertical osteotomy lines must be removed closure of the wound.







Sutures removed after 10 days and distraction was carried through by three turns / day e.g. 0.9 mm / day untill a elevation of 8 mm - 8.5 mm was confirmed by the panoramic radiograph (OP should be corrected for the magnification factor 1.3).
