Bone augmentation |
The 4 back teeth in the upper jaw (+ 4,5,6,7) are loose due to periodontal disease and root tip infection. The teeth cannot be saved. The teeth and inflammation are removed. |
The teeth and inflammation has been removed. Only 2-6 mm of healthy bone remains towards the maxillary sinus. |
2 months after the teeth are gone, a bone augmentation is performed on top of the jaw and in the bottom of the maxillary sinus. The new bone is fastened with tiny screws in the period of healing. |
5 -6 months later the 3 implants are inserted (4,5mm width and 15mm/13mm length) to replace the lost teeth. |
The implants must heal for 6 months in the new bone before they can withstand the stress from chewing. Therefore the time required, when a bone augmentation is involved, is longer than an ordinary implant procedure. |
